Asia-Pacific Mountain Network (APMN) is a voluntary regional network of Mountain Forum representing the Asia-Pacific region. APMN is also a part of the knowledge network of the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) Information and Knowledge Management Programme for generating, disseminating and sharing information on sustainable development in upland and mountainous areas of the Asia-Pacific region.
APMN's objectives are to generate, collect, package and disseminate information for sustainable development of upland and mountain areas in the Asia-Pacific region and to facilitate networking amongst its network members and subscribers. The core focuses of APMN are poverty alleviation and economic development, sustainable management of natural resources, facilitating gender-balanced decision-making processes, advocating environment and development policies and programmes, preservation and promotion of cultural heritage and reducing vulnerability of people to mountain disasters.
Currently, there are 201 organisational members from 23 countries and 1411 individual members from 39 countries who are registered with APMN.
Dr. Andreas Schild - the Director General of ICIMOD - is the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Mountain Forum, and also represents APMN on the Board.
Mr. Muhammad Ismail Khan of Pakistan serves on the Board of Directors as the elected representative of Mountain Forum members from the Asia-Pacific region.
